Web 2.0

Hi there, and welcome to my first 'shot' at blogging. I suppose that I have been contributing to lists and 'blogging' for some time without realising the official term for it. What do I hope to learn from the Web 2.0 program...? As an Information Librarian, I am well aware of the 'limitless' information that is out there, but how to get hold of it. As the first 'port of call' for many library patrons who do not have access to or the expertise (such as it is) to digital information I welcome the opportunity to 'tiptoe' through the information garden.

I particularly like the idea of a teen/childrens library blog. A lot of Councils like to have a certain protocol and format followed in the websites that they present. Having a youth blog will surely allow libraries to present themselves in a less formal way, appealing to the 'younger' group.

There are lots of great potential for blogs and many libraries use them. Hopefully this course will give you a few ideas on how to use this for your library.

Good luck
